26 April 2008
Australian Highland Dancer Caroline McFarland has married Mr Sebastian Alexander Collins in an intimate ceremony at St Marks Church, Terrigal, on Saturday 19th April 2008.
The daughter of John and Veronica McFarland, the owners of the company behind www.downunderthekilt.com, Caroline first met Sebastian when she performed as a lead dancer in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo - A Salute to Australia in 2005. Sebastian, a Senior Air Craftsmen in the Royal Air Force, was on tour with the Queens Colour Squadron.
Before friends and relatives from both the Collins and McFarland families, the two declared their love for each other and legalised their union in a beautiful ceremony of love and life. Caroline walked down the aisle to Hector the Hero, played by folk band "The Potbellies" with her Brother Douglas playing the emotional song on the Bagpipes. Hector the Hero was one of the featured musical highlights of the 2005 Tattoo where Caroline and Sebastian met.
As the ceremony concluded, the newly married Mr and Mrs Collins were escorted from the church by Mr Ian Lyons one of the countries best bagpipers.
Following the ceremony invited guests enjoyed a glamorous reception at the Terrigal Country Club where a traditional celebration of marriage was held. With verbal tributes from those close to the pair, the bridal waltz and cutting of the cake amongst the memorable moments of the evening. It wouldn't be a McFarland celebration without some Scottish Dancing and all those present who could dance a fling, including the Bride, graced the dance floor. This was followed by a moving moment of the Bride, her sister Kylie (who was maid of honour) and mother Veronica enjoying some steps of the Village Maid.
As the evening came to a close Mr and Mrs Collins were farewelled by a circle of love from the guests as they prepared for their life together. Caroline and Sebastian will honeymoon in Paris before starting their early married life in London, England, where they will spend 2 years before returning to Australia.
Both Caroline and Sebastian are the first in each family to begin married life.
