Veronica Law student Kyle Marston was Australia's highest placed Adult dancer in the 2008 Champion of Champions Championship of Australia held in Newcastle this past Easter weekend.

Following a disappointing day 1 of competition, Kyle entered into day 2 determined and prepared for what many call Australia's most prestigious Highland Dancing event. Having taken 2 overall 2nd's in his most recent championships, he was always a major contender for the prize, however having kicked the swords and then stopping in the Seann Triubhas, Kyle had to bring his best performance to the stage. And he did...

He blended his superb strength with a sophisticated, mature competitive approach to perform to the highest standard he has reached, ultimately resulting in him placing 3rd in the Championship with current World Champion David Wilton from Scotland and Champion Katie Trydal from Canada placing 1st and 2nd respectively.

Kyle's win of the Australia medal adds yet another piece of History to the VLSHD which includes numerous Championship wins all over Australia and Overseas. This was a particularly special win for the school with the President of the organisation running Champion of Champions also announcing Kyle's teacher Veronica McFarland recognising the important role in her pupil's success.

Many people in the audience commented on Kyle's performance and more so his humble acceptance of his prize, which was welcomed with excitement, much of which still hadn't sunk in by the end of the day.

Kyle and his team of teachers will continue to work hard as he prepares for the World Highland Dancing Championships in Scotland later this year.
